Reverse Osmosis Specialty Cleaner

Quality-ACD

Product Overview

Quality-ACD is a low-pH liquid formulation designed to remove metal oxides, calcium carbonate, and other salt scales. It is suitable for aromatic polyamide reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, microfiltration (MF) membranes, nanofiltration (NF) membranes, and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. Excellent cleaning performance extends membrane run time and service life. For optimal cleaning results, Quality-ACD should be used in conjunction with Quality-ALK.

Advantages:

  • Suitable for all aromatic polyamide membranes and cellulose acetate membranes
  • Contains a powerful chelating agent to promote the dissolution of metallic deposits
  • Contains buffering agents to inhibit pH changes, maintaining the cleaning pH between 2.0 and 4.0
  • Liquid formulation mixes quickly with water, reducing mixing time
  • Miscible with water in any proportion

Physical and Chemical Properties:

  • Physical state: Liquid
  • Specific gravity: 1.05 ± 0.05
  • Appearance: Pale yellow or colorless liquid
  • pH value: 2–4
  • Freezing point: -5°C
  • Solubility: Completely soluble in water

Dilution:

The typical dosage in the cleaning tank is 1–3% concentration of the product.

Cleaning Instructions:

Inspect and flush the entire RO cleaning system to keep it clean.

Before cleaning, the type of fouling on the RO membrane elements and the cause of this fouling must be basically identified, so that the cleaning targets the specific problem. After cleaning, analyze the cause of fouling and implement corresponding pretreatment prevention measures.

During the cleaning process, the temperature of the cleaning solution must always be maintained within the required temperature range (30–35°C).

The cleaning flow rate should use the value recommended by the membrane manufacturer or VCS. Additionally, the flow rate magnitude and the length of soaking time should be determined based on the type and degree of membrane fouling. If no such recommendation is available, VCS technical engineers can provide guidance based on the actual system
conditions. For heavily fouled systems, it is highly advisable to consult a VCS technical engineer during cleaning to obtain the optimal cleaning solution.

For multi-stage RO systems, it is best to clean each stage individually to achieve maximum effectiveness. If the cleaning solution be comes turbid or the pH goes beyond the recommended range, prepare fresh solution or replenish the cleaner. Before returning the system to service,it must be flushed with RO permeate.
