VCS Unveils Eco-Friendly Deepwater Scale Control Technologies at OTC 2024

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2024) concluded successfully at NRG Park in Houston. Texas-based industrial fine chemical leader VCS maintained a strong presence, unveiling its specialized water treatment and oilfield chemistries tailored for offshore drilling and deepwater production platforms.

Offshore operations place demanding requirements on chemical treatments, which must deliver extreme thermal and baric stability under dynamic marine conditions while strictly complying with international environmental mandates for low toxicity and high biodegradability. VCS addressed this directly by showcasing its green deepwater scale/corrosion inhibitors and eco-friendly biocides, which have passed rigorous independent ecotoxicological testing. These formulations remain highly soluble and chemically stable in natural seawater rich in calcium and magnesium ions, effectively preventing severe downhole blockages caused by marine scaling.

The VCS booth attracted engineering experts from multinational majors operating across the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and emerging offshore basins.
